The Wigamalefis part 10: Modifications A No More Fakes Story (Sunday, Nov. 10) Sunday morning was like every other Sunday morning, except the fact that I didn't feel like going to church. I was too busy contemplating my situation. Somehow I needed to give in and let Wiggy take his body over. I'm not really sure how I came about. I know it has something to do with the Raucous Chicken party. The news has said that there will be another party on the 14th. I should go to it. There might be a way to get back to normal. I'm sure Wiggy wouldn't mind having control again. I crawled out of bed and got dressed. I wandered into the kitchen to fix some breakfast. On the way, I saw Project F sitting on the end table in the living room. The last time I used it, it sent me to the Wigamalefis home world and change me into a human. But it didn't give Wiggy his mind back. I still had control of it. I had to think of a way to fix it. While eating breakfast I flipped on the news. The Raucous Chicken was still a big part of the coverage. The police are continuously asking for transformed people to report in. It seemed so long ago when I was taken to the police station the morning after Halloween. Maybe I should go see that psychiatrist that talked to me then. She might be able to help me give Wiggy his mind back. The strange feeling came. Project F was the key. Somehow I needed to fix it so it will change me back into Will's body. I don't remember ever being human, but I know I must have been. Sandy has always been trying to convince me that I was Will and not Wiggy. She had been right all along. I needed to fix Project F. I turned off the TV. I was losing interest in the news anyway. I sat down at my workspace and started working on the project. I found a few things that were obviously wrong. I was able to fix them easily. I worked for hours. Then there was a knock at the door. I got up from my work and answered the door. "Hey, Wig.... Will....," Lance said as soon as I opened the door. His dragon neck ducked down so his head was at my eye level. I grabbed my notepad and pencil I had by the door. "Call me Will, now," I wrote after motioning Lance in. "I know that I'm not really Wiggy." Lance looked at me confused. I guess it was a look of confusion. I still have trouble reading his draconian expressions. "Let me get this straight. You have been Wiggy, but you know that you are really Will?" I nodded. "I'll just leave it at that...." Lance said. "So, what have you been up to, W? Do you mind if I call you W. That way I'll be on the safe side." I shrugged. "Ok," he said looking around the room. He spotted Project F sitting on the worktable. "Is this that project thing you are working on?" I nodded again. Lance looked the mass of metal and wires over. He didn't touch anything though. He seemed very impressed. "This looks interesting," he said. "What does it do?" "It's supposed to change me back into a human, and hopefully give Will his mind back," I wrote. "I see." He looked at it some more. "How much more do you have to go?" "I don't know. I think I'm making progress." He looked back at the devise. "I think you need a break," he said looking at me. "If you have build this in a week, you have been working too long." "I have been thinking of going for a swim. Swimming always relaxes me," I wrote. "Swimming..... That sounds fun. I haven't been swimming since I've been a dragon. Let's go." He headed for the door. "Come on, W." I followed. We both decided to walk to the pond. It was starting to get dark, but I like the night air. I really like night swims. On the way I was thinking of a good excuse to abandon the project. "I had been working on Project F for a long time now. And I hadn't been swimming in a very long time. Well, it's been a little over a week. But, for a wigamalefis, that is a long time. Wait. I'm not really a wigamalefis. I'm really a human in a wigamalefis body. But, I don't know how often humans swim. But, I know that since I am currently a wigamalefis, I should go swimming. I mean, why not enjoy being me while I can. I need to go see that psychiatrist." We reached the pond. I immediately dived into the water. Lance was a little more reluctant. He used to be a good swimmer when he was human. But, now that he isn't, it might take a while before he gets good again. That is if dragons can swim. I, of course, had been able to swim all my life. When wigamalefi are born, they are put into a tank of water first.... I have to remember that I wasn't born a wigamalefis. I was a human named Will. It's so hard to remember that when all I remember is being Wiggy. Lance was able to get used to swimming again, although he wasn't that good at it. He was able to keep his head above water. He didn't take his head under. I guess he didn't want to put his fire out or something. His arms and legs seemed to be swimming correctly, but his wings didn't help matters much. Also, his tail looked like it was getting in the way. Eventually, he climbed out of the pond and dried off in the chilly November air. "I think I'll stick to flying," he said bundling up in his towel. "It's freezing out here. How can you stand it?" He wrapped his wings around himself to block out the wind. I couldn't write in the water, and Lance didn't know sign language. So, I pointed to my fur. I decided to get out. I didn't want to keep Lance here while I was swimming. But before I got out I swam to the bottom of the pond and back up to the surface one last time. Then I crawled out onto the bank and shook most of the water from my blue fur. I brought several towels. This fur of mine soaks up lots of water. After I was mostly dry, we headed back towards my house. I was dry when we reached home. Something didn't seem right. "Didn't you close the door?" Lance asked. I nodded. I looked and saw that the door was slightly cracked open. We sneaked up to the house and peered into the window. I saw something moving in the darkness. "Someone has broken into my house!" I mentally yelled. I looked over at Lance. But, instead of being next to me, where he was a few seconds ago, he was sneaking into the front door. "Lance, no!" I whispered. But, he couldn't understand my grunts and growls even if he heard me. I couldn't call the police. Phones were worthless to me. Without a better option, I followed Lance. In the house Lance and I walked into the living room undetected by the intruder. He was too busy stuffing things into his bag. He stopped at Project F. He picked it up and looked at it curiously. I was furious. He could have the other stuff, just leave that here. I growled. The intruder heard me. He turned his flashlight beam right at me. "What the...." was his response at seeing me. Lance rushed him and knocked him to the floor. Project F slid out of his grasp. The impact triggered the laser beam. It hit the intruder in the shoulder. The man screamed in pain. He suddenly stopped and lay still. I flipped on the lights. The intruder seemed to still be alive. His body started convulsing. I ran over to help him. I tried to open his mouth, to keep him from swallowing his tongue, but it was shut tight. Then it opened. But what shocked me more was the fact that he had two tusks coming from his bottom row of teeth. I then noticed that there was more things happening to him. His head grew in size, while his nose became almost pig-like. Small antlers grew from his head as his hears got bigger. Short blue fuzz grew all over his body. His feet burst out of his shoes and resembled flippers. His hands resembled mine. I backed away and saw that he also had a short tail like mine. Then he stopped convulsing. He looked like an exact mix between human and wigamalefis. Every feature was half human and half wigamalefis. I looked over to Lance. He was staring wide eyed at the intruder. I looked back at the man on the floor. His eyes opened, and he sat up. He looked around the room, then at himself. He looked at Lance and me questioningly. "Where am I?" he asked. "You don't remember?!" Lance yelled. "Who are you?! Why did you break in here?!" "I don't remember anything," the man said. Lance and I exchanged confused glances. To Be Continued....
