The Wigamalefis part 11: Modifications A No More Fakes Story (Sunday, Nov. 10 evening - Thursday, Nov. 14) The night was very confusing. First of all, the three of us didn't know what just happened. Secondly, I didn't know how Project F could have turned the intruder into half wigamalefis. Lastly, none of us knew who the intruder was. The intruder himself didn't know. I helped the transformed man up off the floor and sat him in the chair in the living room. Lance sat on the couch. I picked Project F off the floor and sat it on the table where it belonged. All the while, the man kept examining himself and eyeing me. "I look like you?" he asked. "Not exactly. You look like a mix between human and wigamalefis," I replied. His blue fur wasn't as thick as mine. You could still see skin underneath. His antlers or his tail wasn't as big as mine. His snout was more of an oddly shaped nose. How Project F did that was beyond me. It was supposed to change me into a human so Will could have his body back. It wasn't supposed to change a human into part wigamalefis. "I see," he said looking at is arms. "How did I get here?" "You broke into Will's house and were stealing things," Lance said. It suddenly dawned on me. I had spoken my response. I was speaking in the wigamalefis language and the man understood me. "You understood me?" I yelled interrupting Lance. Lance just stared at me questioningly. "Calm down, W. There's no need to get violent." I'm sure Lance thought I was fussing at the man in my native tongue. "Yes, I can," the intruder said. He was speaking in the grunts and growls that I was. "Why shouldn't I?" "Because we are speaking wigamalefish." "What?" "It's the language that wigamalefi speak." Lance was staring at us. Total confusion filled his face. I picked up my notepad. "I'm sorry," I wrote. "It's just that it's the first time someone can understand what I'm saying." Lance nodded. He turned back to face the intruder. "You don't remember why you broke into this house?" The man shook his head. After interrogating him for about an hour, we couldn't get anything out of him. We decided to call him Kerry. We needed some name for him. He even helped come up with that one. We all wondered if it was his real name. His subconscious mind could be hiding it. Hopefully Project F didn't do any permanent damage to him. Especially to his brain. I let Kerry stay at my place until we could figure out somehow to change him back. He slept on the couch in the living room. Lance stayed over the first night, but that was it. He would come over to check up on things and then go home to his wife. It seems that she is starting to accept having a dragon for a husband. I just hope it isn't just an act. Sandy had come over a few times. She was surprised to see Kerry. We explained to her as much as we know about what happened. She was skeptical at first, but I think she eventually sympathized with him. All went well until that Thursday. I had just gone to bed after working on Project F for hours. I didn't actually change anything on the device. I needed to figure out how the change happened to begin with before I modified it. I was just working out new plans on paper. I had just dozed off to sleep when I heard something going on in the living room. At first I just thought it was Kerry getting ready for bed. But, then I heard a scream. It sounded like Kerry. There was a mix of human and wigamalefis in that scream. I hopped out of bed and ran into the living room. I saw Kerry. Although it wasn't the Kerry that was half wigamalefis. It was the Kerry that was all human. He looked at himself and then at me. "I'm back to normal!" he yelled. "I'm in my stupid human body again!" "That's good," I said. "What?" he asked. There was a crazed look in his eyes. He looked around the room and saw Project F sitting where I left it. He dashed toward it. "No, Kerry!" I yelled. But, of course being a human he couldn't understand me. I ran to intercept him. Kerry grabbed Project F before I could reach it. "I'm not Kerry. My real name is Jerry. We were close," he snickered. It was on the verge of a crazed snicker. "I don't want to be Jerry. I don't want to be human! I must be the way I was!" I tried to calm him down with some low grunts and slow gestures. He seemed to relax a little, but he firmly held the device pointed at himself. "I have to do it!" Before I could snatch it away from him, he pressed the button and the laser beam hit its target. He went through the same convulsions as he did before. And when it was over, the same half-man-half-wigamalefis was there. "Are you ok?" I asked. I'm sure he could understand me again. "I feel great!" he growled. "Why? Why did you do it?" I had to ask. "Because, I didn't want to be who I used to be. I remember my old life now. I hated it. Thanks to your invention I don't have to live it anymore." "But, you were human." "I don't want to be human. You seem to fit into society, and you aren't human." I looked at blue furry arm. I always remembered being a wigamalefis, but I have come to realize that I am really a human named Will. Somehow I was transformed at the Halloween party. "I used to be human. Although I don't remember being anything other than a wigamalefis." "You see. You don't know what it is like being human. And you don't know what it is like being Jerry. That's why Jerry is no more. I'm going to try to be Kerry. I'm going to start new." With that he stormed out the door and ran down the street. I ran to the end of my driveway and watched him go. If he wants to start a new life, I can't stop him. It's his life. I walked back into the house. That strange feeling came again. I picked Project F up from where Kerry left it and put it away in my closet. I didn't want anything like that happening again. I just hope Kerry will be all right. Since I was up I decided to watch some TV. The news was on. That was strange since it was midnight. "We are still at the Raucous Chicken," the reporter said. "Oh, man," I said to myself. "I forgot to go. I was so caught up on Project F." Partygoers were seen in the background. Some were people who had been transformed. Others were people wearing costumes. "The participants are eagerly awaiting a reversal or repeat of what happened on Halloween. Nothing unusual has happened so far. We will keep you in touch." The scene switched back to the anchorperson in the studio. "Well, it looks like it's not going to happen again," I tried to convince myself. "It looked like most of the people who were there wanted to get changed into something and not get changed back. Besides I don't think that a new party will give Wiggy his mind back." I turned off the TV and went back to bed. I didn't sleep well. I kept worrying about Kerry. "Why did he freak out so much when he changed into a human?"
